When Mark Rylance won his BAFTA TV award he was asked questions about Harry backstage. He said he hadn’t met him yet but his niece is a huge fan.
Harry was photographed in London on the 10th May. This was the first time we had a glimpse at how short his hair had been cut for his role.
More smoke tests were carried out along the beaches of Dunkerque around the 10th and 11th May. Local people were warned about the smoke tests, particularly because a real, large fire had occurred in a building in Dunkerque just days before.
Locals were also warned that when filming begins, large detonations may be heard across Dunkerque.
Local house owners and businesses were paid to allow the redecoration and use of their buildings. Businesses will also be paid for any loss of trade.
Nolan is attempting to keep the production as secret as possible. Everyone working on the project has signed a Non-Disclosure Agreement.
Many of the local roads and parts of the beach will close to the public to allow filming to take place. Road closures began on the 17th May.
The Dunkerque Kursaal (concert venue) has continued to be redecorated and now appears to be turning into an old factory.
Merville Airfield have been asked to be the base for around 6 vintage British and German aircraft and 2 helicopters for filming.
Aneurin finished filming Interlude in Prague on the 12th May.
Photographs of the costume department for the soldier extras leaked on the 12th May.
WW2 vehicles were photographed beginning to arrive in Dunkerque on either the 12th or 13th May.
Caronia was another Dunkirk Little Ship confirmed to take part in filming. A total of 20 are expected to participate.
The PW809 Naaldwijk and the M830 Sittard both arrived in Dunkerque’s East Port on or before the 15th May. Norwegian ship "Rogaland" is another expected to take part in filming.
Harry was spotted on a train to Lille on the 15th May, which is not far from Dunkerque. On the 16th May, he was spotted in Dunkerque taking part in costume fittings and camera tests. He returned to London on the 17th May.
Houses and other buildings have continued to be redecorated, including the inclusion of wooden shutters. Sand bags have been piled up in the streets and other props have been added for authenticity.
